Lymphedema
Lymphedema is an abnormal accumulation of protein rich fluid between the cells, which causes chronic inflammation, fibrosis (hardening of skin), and adipose (fat) tissue accumulation in the affected area.
Mobile rehab approach to lymphedema treatment is complete decongestive therapy (CDT) is currently believed by many to be the gold standard of treatment. CDT consists of four components .
Manual Lymph drainage (MLD)
MLD is a specialized massage that works to stretch the tissues to promote lymphatic activation, increased reabsorption of protein rich fluid, promotes relaxation, and helps decrease pain and discomfort. MLD is one of the key components of CDT and is usually performed for at least 30 minutes.
Compression therapy, wrapping
Considered to be the second key component of treatment for lymphedema. Compression therapy uses a specialized technique and bandage to prevent re-accumulation of edema fluid, and assists in the breakdown of the fibrotic tissue.
Exercise
Usually performed with the compression bandaging still on, exercise helps facilitate lymphatic and venous return, along with helps increase endurance, and strength.
Skin/nail care
Maintaining a healthy integumentary (skin) system is vital to prevent infection and skin breakdown.
CDT is broken down into two phases, the intensive (decongestive) phase which is usually performed 5 times a week for best outcomes. During the treatment of this phase MLD and compression wrapping will be performed during every visit to maximize reduction of limb volume. The second phase is the maintenance phase your therapist will assist in choosing the proper compression stocking and teaching a maintenance home exercise program to maintain your success.

Dr. Joshua Fingerman is the best PT you can ask for! My neck pain is completely gone after only a couple of sessions. Wonderful bedside manner and extremely accommodating. I highly recommend.
Dr. Josh Fingerman has been a true blessing to me and has changed my life. Josh communicated what the plan was and what to expect from our sessions. He instructed me in how to do exercises in between our sessions and has shared his knowledge and given me the ability to be physically active again. I give Josh a 10+ recommendation!!! 😊👍
Dr Josh Fingerman has helped me so much. I was not able to walk or take care of myself two months ago. Now I’m walking and able to go out side of my home. He is definitely a blessing and is very experienced. He’s the best. I recommend him to anyone. He also has a beautiful personality…
When I started out with Joshua I had several things going on. and was in a lot of pain. I wanted to stay in my home but was wondering if that was even possible. He helped me out sooo much. My family also feels that I would not be in the place that I am without his hard work. At this point I am feeling right now that I am able to stay in my home, get around so much better, and able to do things that I could not do before.
I’ve used Joshua’s PT services for the last few years. The first was after an accident where I severely injured my back. Despite surgeries, back treatments and chiropractic work, my pain and disability remained largely the same. This was until Joshua began PT with me.
